Diploma in Person Centred Counselling
If you have a serious interest in counselling, then this course will provide you with a professional counselling qualification.
It is a part-time course of two years and runs on one weekend a month (September – June). The course contact time is 17.5 hours per month. Altogether the course comprises 350 hours of training plus a minimum of 100 hours of client contact on placement and 18 hours of external supervision.
The course model is the Person Centred Approach. Our aim is to provide a learning environment in which students can progressively integrate theory to support counselling practice and personal development.
You will need:
· a level of personal awareness and emotional maturity necessary for the demands of counselling training.
· the ability to organise (or have access to) a counselling placement of 2-3 hours per week.
The Diploma in Person Centred Counselling is accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and, at the discretion of the Society, is a route onto the national register of counsellors which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Certificate in Counselling
A part-time course of 26 weeks, 3 hours per week, plus 3 workshop days, starting SEPTEMBER 2024. It is designed for people who are interested in learning about counselling and/or want to improve their relationships and interpersonal communication, e.g. in the workplace, voluntary work, family etc. It is an opportunity for students to extend and develop learning beyond introductory level. It also provides a foundation for anyone interested in progressing to the Diploma in Person Centred Counselling.
The Certificate in Counselling is Quality Checked by the National Counselling Society.
Introduction to Counselling
A part-time course 8 weeks, 3 hours per week, starting SEPTEMBER 2024. It is designed for people who want to develop their ability to listen and communicate. The knowledge and skills gained from the course can improve relationships both in the workplace and in people's personal and family life. The course also forms the initial part of the Certificate. Any student who completes the Introduction can choose to continue on the Certificate. This requires attending a further 20 weeks plus 2 workshop days, as well as completing the assessed work.
The Introduction to Counselling is Quality Checked by the National Counselling Society.
Diploma in the Person Centred Approach
A part-time course of 2 years for people who don't want to train to be a counsellor, yet are interested in various aspects of personal growth such as, self-awareness, interpersonal communication, enhancing personal and professional relationships, etc. The course will provide opportunities to explore wider applications of the Person Centred Approach, for example, in education, health and social care, and the workplace in general. It follows the same timescale as the professional award, yet with different learning outcomes and without the placement requirement.
